Calling Out To All Women!

We all want to be the best we can be… Meaning we want to be the best friend, daughter or son, mom or dad, spouse etc., that we know how to be. Often, I feel like we don’t know our identity, so we are unable to fully reach our max potential in our everyday relationships. With that being said, I have never been a wife before, so I have absolutely no idea what that a wife is really supposed to look like biblically. I did study some passages about a year ago, but I knew it was time for a refresher.

I began to read Proverbs 31 and I loved that within the first couple sentences I read that King Lemuel was listening to his mother. I know this may seem silly. However, people, my old self included, believe a lie that women are irrelevant in the eyes of God and The Bible. Oh, how this is such a lie from the enemy!

So I start reading again and I begin to reflect on my past couple weeks of being a new wife. I wrote a list of the characteristics I believe we should have, according to Proverbs 31.

A wife of noble character…

  • Is one of a kind
  • Is more precious than your favorite jewelry
  • Is trustworthy
  • Is reliable
  • Is hardworking
  • Is productive
  • A giver
  • A provider
  • Knows her identity
  • Her identity and foundation is Christ
  • Knows her strengths, God-given talents, and passions, and can utilize them
  • Is profitable and proficient with her time
  • Is resourceful
  • Is Selfless
  • Actively seeks God’s will
  • Is Joyful
  • Is Wise
  • Takes Advice
  • Is always growing in her walk with Abba
  • Is observant
  • Is loved
  • Has a beautiful & pure heart

I read through this and was reminded of how precious we are in Abba’s eyes. I realized how much I am loved & how we are supposed to know our own strengths. I realize as a Child of God we are called to be courageous and confident! There are a few qualities that I need to work on. I also need to work on being constant through all circumstances and not just the good times!

I really want to encourage those who don’t really know who they are, feel stuck, or lost to open up your heart to Abba and his word. Talk to him like he’s your best friend! He is my best friend! People look at me like I’m crazy because I talk to him out loud and I wouldn’t have it any other way! The more you get to know him, the more you begin to see your true identity of who you are called to be and the purpose you have on this earth. I just really want to speak to the ladies that don’t feel like they’re good enough or aren’t making enough progress in their life…You are so loved and you are doing just fine!

Side note:

Also,

Please don’t take my word for it with all my posts. Open up your bible and read the word of God!

Scripture Focus:

Proverbs 31

Questions to ask yourself:

Do you know your identity?

Do you have the characteristics of a noble wife?

How often do you talk to God?

Are you growing or at a stand still?

Are you willing to get to know God on a more intimate level?

What You Are Really Searching For…

Before you start reading this…hear me out…read it all the way through.

The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

‭‭John‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:3-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

These are just a few of many verses that shows Abba’s love for us. Before I started my walk with God, I was looking for love in all the wrong places…I mean all of them. I would try to fill this void in my heart with whatever I could get my hands on…boyfriends, drinking and drugs, food, a promotion at work, money, friends, popularity, and yes, even social media. No matter what I did, I was never satisfied. I knew in my heart there was something more. I didn’t understand. Now, most of the things I listed above are what the world thinks as “bad”. If you try to fill the void of God’s love with anything, including your spouse, bodybuilding, healthy eating, a productive hobby, etc….it becomes a bad things. Some things that are really good for us can become an idol, something that we put before God which in turn, can turn out really bad. My point of this post is that really what our world is looking for is love…and God is love. (1 John 4:8) We are all searching for a deep intimate relationship with Abba.

What I love about God is that he believes that bringing one of us home to the Kingdom of God, is of great importance. He is a good father that doesn’t want anyone to perish. He looks at us as his masterpieces. He looks at us with love and tells us we are worthy of love. We are made to be loved. I heard that “we are made to be loved.” & I was like ugh….Abba, my heart.

When my relationship with God first started really developing, I was blown away with how many lies the thief, aka satan, aka, the enemy, had snuck into my life. Everything I believed about God was untrue. I had to let go of who I thought he was & who I thought I was. I began to read and study the word daily, praying more than I ever before, and started having fellowship with other people following Jesus, and I started to understand my identity.

I am a Child of God.

Before really pursuing my relationship I was searching and searching, trying to fill the void, and really I just needed God. I needed his true, pure, reckless love. I can speak about his love for me all day long. I know that he loves you too. But, getting to know his love is something you have to do. By this I mean, his love is individualized. He loves you and every “flaw” you think you have. His love never changes no matter the mistake you may make or what your past looks like. God loves you no matter where you are at in this very moment. He is willing to leave the 99 to come get the one. Are you the one?

His love doesn’t just stop at me, it doesn’t just stop at you…he uses all the things we’ve been through for the good. He uses it to help others that may be struggling. To me, that is so beautiful. How his love just travels and travels through people and for all generations to come.

Like I said, I can speak about God’s love for you all day long, but it’s for you to decide to get to know him on that intimate level.

I know we will never reach the depth of his love here on earth…and I think that’s one of the things that really sets a fire inside of my soul. I can just keep reaching out to him and he keeps pouring his love back upon me. We can never outgive God. His love is overwhelming to the point of tears of joy. His love is reckless and is unstoppable. His love is constant. His love is everything I’ve ever needed and more. Thank-you Abba for who you are.

Character of God~Part I~(God is love)

The more I learn about Christ and who he is, the deeper my love for him grows. I have been reading for a couple days, wondering what Holy Spirit was going to tell me to write about for this next post. This verse particularly stuck out to me. My thought process was something like this…”Wow, God is so cool. He just doesn’t stop caring at us. He uses his love for us to love others. He gives us the privilege to show his character everyday. Oh man, do I really know who he is? *continues reading* Uh oh, I have some stuff to work on…*Holy Spirit reassures me of how much he loves me* Well, what else do you have to reveal to me God?”

This is going to be a new series of posts of who God is. During these posts, I will be reminding myself that I am called to reflect the character of God (Ephesians 5:1)

This will be a learning process. I am excited!

First and foremost, I want to say that God is love (1 John 4:8).

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keepsno record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever he truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

So if you replace the word Love with God it comes out to be…

God is patient and kind. God is not jealous of boastful or proud or rude. God does not demand his own way. He is not irritable, he keeps no record of being wronged. God does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. God never gives up, God never loses faith, god is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance.

When I was reading this, I was caught by “Love does not demand its own way”.
First I was like, well this is definitely something I need to work on! (HA!)
But, after Holy Spirit revealed something to me. I was like, But God, I thought you wanted us to follow your word and example? (Ephesians 5:1~Psalm 119:133).
& then it hit me…
God gave us free will. He loves us so much that he gave us the option to choose him.
That is selfless. To create everything in the whole entire universe and give your creation the option to follow you. WOW!!!!!!

One of my favorite things about God is that he is so selfless. He is constantly doing things to not only help us, but help others.

When he gives us an answer or tells us to do something, even though the answer may be no or what he’s asking us to do may make us super uncomfortable and may make us change something about ourself, we know that it is for the good of everyone. (Romans 8:28)

We only see a portion of what and who our decisions effect. God sees the BIG picture.

I am so thankful I have a part of God (Holy Spirit) to help guide me and make decisions. Even down to what I should write this post about. It’s an honor to know that if I talk to God about a decision I may have to make, he will have an answer that will make everything turn out the best for everyone.

When you look at God are you viewing him as the definition of Love? Is Love what you thought it was?

God’s love is the love that keeps on giving.

And I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love, so that you, together with all God’s people, may have the power to understand how high and deep, is Christ’s love-although it can never be fully known-and so be completely filled with the very nature of God. (Ephesians 3:17-19)

Life Gets Better…

Reflecting on the news of hearing that Chester Bennington committed suicide earlier today hit me in a way that I felt the need to share part of my testimony & say that life gets better…I say this because February 2015 was the last time I was in a psychiatric hospital for self-harm & suicidal thoughts that had been ongoing since a very young age. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, & PTSD and had been heavily medicated most of my life, in and out of counseling, and the hospital. It was hard for me to cope so I turned to drugs & alcohol which later on gave me another problem to add to what seemed to be an never ending list. I was at my breaking point and then I finally realized that I couldn't fight anymore & I began to pray. I began going to The River and my relationship with Christ began to grow. Now, still growing deeper into his Love everyday, I haven't been medicated since January 2017 and have been stable. Thank-you Lord for the healing!💜 I am getting married in October to the man of my prayers & moving to Louisana to begin the next chapter. My point being, if I would've committed suicide I wouldn't be here to start a new chapter with my best friend. I wouldn't be able to accomplish my dreams or be able to fulfill the purpose of my life. I thank God for saving me on the day he did & the continual love he pours out on me everyday. When I don't feel worthy, he tells me I am. When I don't feel lovable, he shows me I am. When I feel alone, he's right there beside me. When I need strength, he gives me strength. If you're reading this right now and need someone to talk to or just simply need a hug, call me, text me, FaceTime me. You're worth every breath. Don't let anyone or anything tell you otherwise💜
RIP Chester. Praying for all those who deal with mental illness or know of someone battling. You're not alone💜

“What’s your plan when you move to Louisana?”

I keep hearing “What’s your plan when you move down to Louisiana?” “Are you going to college?” “Are you going to be a caregiver still or are you going to go back to serving? Servers make so much more money!”. I’m over here like…God hasn’t told me anything other than to marry Brad, move to Louisiana, and go to the church where he has been going to for over a year and pursue something with worship.

To the world this seems like a naive plan…not really having everything worked out. God hasn’t told me what to do, and I know if I’m not still and try to make a plan for myself, it won’t work out. However, I can rest in that I am God’s masterpiece and he’s not finished, this is really just the beginning.

“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above–spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”-‭‭EPHESIANS‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

For those who want to know what my exact plan is when I arrive down to Louisiana, I don’t have the details. God will let me know when I need to know. I want to do what God has planned, not what I have planned.

“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].”-‭‭MATTHEW‬ ‭16:24‬ ‭AMP‬‬

If this means spreading his love through working at McDonald’s and serving at church, I will. If this means volunteering at a church without a paid position,I will. If this means going to college to be a family doctor, I will. If this means *insert something you would never see yourself doing that makes you feel uncomfortable*, will you for God?

So no, I don’t have it all figured out, but God does. With that being said, I’m in really good hands.

I pray that if you have struggled with what you’re supposed to do, that you let Holy Spirit lead your steps. That you end yourself and begin what God has planned. We know that everything will turn out for the good. We know that when we have you in our life, Lord, that we lack nothing. I pray that we hold onto your word and practice what we have learned. I pray that we follow you, no matter how crazy or uncomfortable it may feel. I thank-you for always being there, always having a plan that turns everything for the good, and allowing us to be your friend and vessel to spread the love you have for all of us. You are so good. The love you share is deeper than we could ever imagine. I just pray that I am filled with you Lord, instead of myself. In Jesus name, Amen.

P.S. If you haven’t read “The End of Me, Where Real Life in the Upside-Down Ways of Jesus Begins” by: Kyle Idleman yet, it’s an awesome read!
