New Life In Christ 3.22.2018~Romans 6:10-14 Bible Study~

Thankyou to all those women who came out today. It was wonderful to see some new faces! I really enjoy getting together and what our fellowship holds. The transparency and culture of love that our conversations carry is something that I have been praying for.

For those who weren’t able to make it, we hope to see you next week! Same place, same time!

Below I have uploaded my personal notes for the bible study content: New Life In Christ 3.22.18

Your Heart’s Intentions & The Work-Place

You may be a teacher, pastor, waitress, or you may be a stay-at-home Mom.
My question for you to reflect on today is, are you doing it for the glory of God?

We all have different purposes that lead to one big purpose, which is being a vessel to build the kingdom of God.

No matter who you are, where you are, what you are doing at this very moment, do it for God.

I don’t care if you are washing a car…do it for the glory of God.

If you are a missionary, do it for the glory of God.

If you are raising children, do it for the glory of God.

If you are changing that child’s dirty diaper, DO IT FOR THE GLORY OF GOD!

We can be doing all these things, including being a pastor, for the wrong intentions. We could be doing them to fulfill our own need and for our own satisfaction.

Ask Holy Spirit to search your heart this afternoon and see where you stand.

Are you rooted in the Love of Jesus, founded on the Word of God, committed to The Body? By Body, I mean every believer. Not just the church you attend. WE ARE ONE.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”-1 Corinthians 10:31

When you are at your job, or in your normal routine, do you view your boss as the one you are working for? Or in your heart are you doing it for God?

Yes, we fall under authority of our bosses. However, God placed those people in leadership for a reason.

Let everything you do be filled with love and grace. Let your work glorify and honor God. Work wholeheartedly no matter what you are doing, no matter where you are. There is a reason for the season.

What Is Your Top Priority?

Quotes_Creator_20180301_113647.png

I love the way the NLT bible puts this verse. KEEP AWAY from ANYTHING that MIGHT take God’s place in your heart. This verse shows how important it is to keep God first above everything and to protect ourselves from the world’s distractions or maybe the distraction is even ourself! God’s proper place of order is ABOVE ALL, including our spouses, kids, jobs, or *place something or someone important to you here*. Has there been something you’ve been putting first before your relationship with God? What is your first priority? What way can things be put in proper order? Too much of a good thing can become idolatry. Start with a small amount of time and go to your quiet place and spend time with God. Get an accountability partner if this is something you struggle with. A little encouragement can go a long way!

Also, a really awesome book to go along with today’s devotion is- God’s At War by Kyle Idleman.

Defeating The Lie: I’m Not Clean Enough To Get To Know God

God laid it on my heart these past couple days to talk about how Jesus isn’t looking for us to “get clean” before we ask him in our life. Neither should the church you attend. The church you attend should be showing the love of Jesus by meeting you where you are at, sins and all. None of us our perfect. None.

I have went to different churches with different denominations. Where I have learned the most is where I felt the love of Jesus and was taught biblical principles. I’ve never learned something out of fear or condemnation. We know that fear nor condemnation come from God. Love casts out all fear and God is Love. There’s a big difference between conviction and condemnation. Condemnation is overwhelming guilt that pushes you away from God. Where conviction is where Holy Spirit points out you have something to work on in your heart through love.

When I went back to church in 2015, I was sick and in need of a doctor. In other words, I was consumed by the enemies lies, what people portrayed God to be, overwhelmed by the heaviness of my sin, and just came home from the bar a couple hours before while still battling a pill addiction. I stepped into The River and was very timid and didn’t really want to talk or be seen by anyone. However, I was stopped by 4 amazing women that day that I still love to this day. They knew that I was struggling but loved me anyways, just as Jesus does. I walked into worship and it was completely different than anything I had ever saw. People were free. They held up their hands praising God, weeping, and laying hands on one another. And then Holy Spirit hit me….Like right in the face. Some of you know exactly what I’m talking about! The song we were singing was talking about was about breaking free from addiction and depression.

I am unsure why there is this lie floating around that Jesus expects you to be white as snow when you come to him…probably just one of satans tactics…But, if we were clean and not in need of a doctor, God wouldn’t of went Jesus to die for us. It’s never too late to come to God & you’re never too dirty to come to him either.

“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord . “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.
Isaiah 1:18 NLT

“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.”
1 John 4:18 NLT

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
1 John 4:16 NLT

1 Awesome Tool To Help You Dive Deeper Into The Word Of God!

I am currently attending a bible study based off of the book: Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life  by the author, Donald S. Whitney. So far it has been refreshing to hear and do different things to really help with reading God’s word, meditating, therefore being apply to be a doer of the word.

In past posts I really have been pushing to read your bible, meditate on the word, and be a doer of the word. I had one verse in particular stand out to me this morning.

‘For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.”-1 Corinthians 4:20 NLT

When you read this at face value, what do you receive? When you ask Holy Spirit to dig deeper what do you receive?

If you are a visual person like me, I often write notes down or on index cards. In the book listed above it talked about a meditation map. The map looks a little something like the maps we used in school.

You can find blank charts on Google!

Look familiar? Well mine isn’t as neat as this. Not even close, but it really broadened what I understood in the verse and actually made me dive deeper into other scripture I had stored in my memory. Here is my chart:

It’s not the prettiest, but this handy dandy meditation chart really revealed just a couple layers of this verse. The word of God is ALIVE & well!

Yes, you can read one verse of the bible and get a map this big out of it. Have Holy Spirit reveal a deeper meaning to the verse. When we mediate on God’s word, there is a much higher chance of us actually applying it to our lives. This meditation map really helped me since I’m a visual learner. Holy Spirit really revealed to me I haven’t really even begun to dive into the Word of God. There is a much deeper intimacy he wants to have with us.

What are some tools that help you study, meditate, and apply the word of God?
