Not Enough: The Lie That Attempts To Bury Your Gift

“You’re not good enough” has been a lie that has been deeply woven into the fabric of my being since childhood. If you reflect on your own life, I am sure every single one of us can say the same. The broken and fallen world we have grown up in has always had a way of shouting our mistakes rather than our strengths. We have an adversary not only after our soul’s but after the Will of God in our life.

For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. -John 6:38 NKJV

As a Child of God, our lives should reflect what Jesus spoke in John 6:38. We are not here to fulfill our own plans or agenda’s. We are in relentless pursuit of the lover of our soul’s and His perfect will of our life. However, the lie of ‘not being enough’ creeps back in, and we bury our gift rather than fulfilling God’s plan for our life.

Jesus faced rejection beyond what our hearts could bare. Yet, he still came down from heaven and fulfilled the Will of God. My friend, you may not feel enough and truthfully, you are not enough on your own. However, with the Holy Spirit inside of you, YOU ARE ENOUGH. We are in a day that we can no longer hide what God has placed inside of us. Rather, we need to stir up the gift. There are people who need what God has placed inside of you. There are people only you can reach. This is why when we bury our talent (gift), rather than walk in obedience to the Father, He see’s it as wicked. What God has given you as a gift, is needed in this generation to save the soul’s of many son’s.

Jesus knows that rejection is hard. His own hometown rejected him! But, aren’t you thankful that Jesus did not let people’s opinions stop him from fulfilling the Will of the Father!? Where would we be if he buried what God placed inside of him rather than fulfilling the plans and purposes God had for him? An eerie thought to ponder.

We have a responsibility to not bury the gift God has given us through grace alone. We have an order to fulfill: to save the lives of the lost, heal the sick and broken, and set the captive free. Do not let the opinion of this world speak louder than the voice of the Father. God did not give you a gift to hide, but to shine brightly before men.

My friend I know that you have had many lies spoken over you from the day you were born. Do not let the voice of the enemy become louder than the voice of the Father, where you hide your gift rather than cultivate it.

You are loved.

You are forgiven.

With him, you are enough.

The Reality Of Sonship

The only limits we have are the one’s we have accepted and God did not put them there. God, the one who spoke light and life into existence. The one who made the heaven’s and the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th. We have access to the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead on that 3rd day. Why are we as his children not walking in this same power?

I believe the root of this problem is a misunderstanding of our identity. As we look at the life of Jesus, we can see that the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness with “if you are the Son of God…” (Matthew 4:3). Why did satan attack Jesus here first? If he could make Jesus fall into the deception of being from this earth rather than seated in heavenly places, it would hinder him from walking out what God had commanded of him. A misunderstanding of your identity as a new creation in Christ will have you blending in with the rest of the world rather than slaying the giants in front of you. We must have a revelation of who we are as new creations. We must ask and receive truth about our new identity as a Child of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the authority that comes from being seated in heavenly places. When we do not understand these fundamentals, we blend in rather than stand out. You are bright light that was never meant to be hidden. Rather, God wants his light to shine through you for all the world to see.

Placed in heaven, we have the upper hand. What Jesus died to do was not only free us from our sin, heal us and make us whole, but adopt us as his children. God no longer looks at as servants but as son’s and daughter’s! We are more than conquerors, victorious, and triumphant as we trust in his promises. We are co-heirs of Christ! Another word for coheir is joint heir. Which means you are a person who has received and inheritance from Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross and you made him the Lord of your life, you were given that same power and same authority. You are no longer a citizen of earth, but a citizen of heaven. The evidence of this is the Holy Spirit. Therefore, sickness and disease, lack of provision, and satan himself is all beneath you. No wonder why the Lord encouraged with John 16:33!

Do you have the heavenly perspective of being a Child of God and a coheir of Christ? God did not send us the spirit of God with limits. He sent his spirit without measure (John 3:34). God desires us to walk in the same power Jesus did. In fact, he desires us to do even greater works (John 14:12-14). We have been told many opinions of who we are and what we can do (especially from the world around us). However, opinions are just earthly views. What God has spoken is FACT and will never wither away, even when this world does.

Reflection Questions

  1. Have you allowed the world’s opinions to shape how you see yourself?
  2. Have you accidentally put limits on God and what he wants to do through you?
  3. How can you accurately see yourself the way HE see’s you?
  4. How does accurately seeing yourself as a coheir of Christ, seated in heavenly places, effect your everyday life?

July Newsletter & Other Way’s To Stay Connected

July’s monthly newsletter focus was on Identity, who we are in Christ as Children of God. There is nothing more foundational than knowing how God see’s you. This is a launching point for almost everything else you will learn in your walk with God. Below is a copy of the newsletter that was sent out to subscribers. I do not do this every month, so If you have not signed up yet, click here.

I also put out graphics, videos, and other content every single day (besides Sabbath) related to what Holy Spirit is speaking via Instagram and Facebook.

Here is the latest video:

*Unsure why the cover of the video makes me seem crazy. (Maybe it is the eye twitch??)

I will be continuing to write here at Let Love Be My Motive. But, I wanted to be sure you had all the wonderful tools for us to stay connected!

Flawed, Messy & His Beloved-Devotional

When we vaunerable before the Lord, laying the messiest pieces of us in his hands… Not only does he mold those messy pieces into something beautiful-but he reveals to us that even through our flaws his love for us never wavers. He calls us fearfully and wonderfully made, his masterpiece, and this includes the parts we aren’t always excited to talk about. When we are unashamed, by laying these things as his feet, we are choosing for God to mold us as he see’s fit as his beautiful masterpiece. God wants all of us. Are willing to lay it all at his feet?

You shall also be [so beautiful and prosperous as to be thought of as] a crown of glory and honor in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem [exceedingly beautiful] in the hand of your God. You [Judah] shall no more be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land be called Desolate any more. But you shall be called Hephzibah [My delight is in her], and your land be called Beulah [married]; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married [owned and protected by the Lord]. For as a young man marries a virgin [O Jerusalem], so shall your sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.
Isaiah 62:3‭-‬5 AMPC

Rooted In Him.

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say—living lives that lead others away from sin], having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] established in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude.
COLOSSIANS 2:6‭-‬7 AMP

There is a deep need for us as Christian’s to have our roots running deep into Jesus Christ himself. Being rooted actually means being thoroughly grounded. Jesus often used plants, fields, and other things in nature to help us understand what he was actually trying to say. So, what is God’s word speaking to us here? Why are roots so important?

Roots are needed first and foremost for survival. Without roots, the plant cannot get the proper nutrients that is needed to survive. Without Jesus Christ, his word, and fellowship with him we cannot spiritually grow. He is the God of growth. If we have out roots in something else such as things of this world we are being fed something other than life. The second reason why plants and we as believers need roots is to avoid erosion of the soil (foundation). When storms come we no longer need to worry if we are going to be carried away. Jesus Christ being our soild foundation is established, steadfast in every situation, and our refuge and protector in the storm.

Being rooted in Jesus Christ is essential for our spiritual growth. Not only is being rooted in Jesus Christ essential for our growth, but this causes us to be able to withstand whatever the fallen world throws at us.

Is what your rooted in giving you life? Let your roots run deep into him, bearing ripe and juicy fruit in every season!
