I Should Not Have Said That-Power of Our Words

Show of hands, how many of us have spoke something and immediately regretted what we spoke? Yes, me too. Thank you Lord for your mercy and grace! On the flip side of things, I have also felt Holy Spirit shut my big mouth. If you are wondering how, continue to read! There is one scripture I declare every single day, if not multiple times a day. It is…

“Lord, set up a guard for my mouth;
keep watch at the door of my lips” -Psalm 141:3 CSB

Do not get me wrong, I have made my fair share of mistakes. I think we all have. However, through this simple prayer, Lord put a door over my mouth so I may not speak thoughtlessly. I have felt the Holy Spirit come alive and shut my mouth so I didn’t say anything I would later regret. My pastor once said, “Do I want to eat the fruit of this later?”. As we speak, even as I write, we need to have an awareness that the words we speak are going to produce something. Are we going to choose to speak life or death?

This blog used to be called Speak Life until Holy Spirit led me to change the name to Let Love Be My Motive. When I first came to Jesus I realized how much of an impact words had on me growing up. The family, friends, coworkers, and others that surrounded me spoke things into me that shaped me as a child. Ultimately, many words that were spoken over me shaped many of the decisions that I would make further on in life.

Our words have power, and it is wise for us (with the help of the Holy Spirit) to keep watch over what we are speaking into people. When people do not have a relationship with Jesus, they do not have any sense of identity. If they do, it is usually made up of what others have said about them. There are still things people have spoken to me years ago that I have to refuse accept lie and replace with God’s truth about who I actually am.

It is essential that Holy Spirit lead the way with what we are speaking. We are to edify one another. Even if Holy Spirit is leading you to correct someone, this MUST be done in love. The words we speak have the power to build up or tear down. Let us be diligent to ask Holy Spirit for help and put a door over our mouthes so we may not speak thoughtlessly.

Bold Enough To Ask (Devotional)

We know that God is a giver at heart. He does not give reluctantly. He willingly gives us the desires of our heart. If he gave us Jesus, what won’t he give to us?

What if we dared to take our own preconceived ideas of what God will give to us and we were bold enough to ask?

He has given us the ability to ask him anything, but are we willing to be bold enough to ask?

Let us join our faith together and turn up our expectation of what God is going to do. While we don’t seek him for what he will do. One of the beauitful things about who he is, is how he willingly gives us all. He deserves the praise for what he has already done, giving us the greatest gift of all, Jesus. But let us turn up our expectation, tearing down the preconceived ideas of what he will do, and boldly come before the throne

Let us join together and praise him for what he is going to do!

▪️God my rock (my support and defense)▪️
▪️God my defense (untouchable to my enemies, my ultimate safe place, my refuge)▪️
▪️God my salvation (helper, deliverance, victory, prosperity, health, freedom, the one who saves me from evil)▪️
✖I will not be moved (be carried, cast, be out of course, waver, slip, shake, or fall)✖
So thankful for God and his steadfastness, protection, and wisdom. He is such a good father to his kids. There is nothing I need that I have to be hesitant to ask, he gives freely and willingly. He knows the heart of everyone. So when I don’t understand, I just simply trust and he makes my paths straight.

Grace Abounds Devotion

Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:20‭-‬21 NKJV

It is so important when we are viewing ourselves and others that we remember that grace and mercy are purely gifts given unto to us through the love of God💜
When you specifically study the life of Saul before he was Paul, his sin was great. However, we know that Saul’s heart was transformed and he is now known as Paul.
The love of God and grace and mercy of Jesus Christ has the power to transform our mistakes and past sins into a testimony for HIS glory👌
His love has no bounds🙌
We are to remember that where sin abounds, so does grace👏
&
We are all in need if his saving grace!

Even If You Stumble

God loves when we follow the plan he has for us, especially since he knows what’s perfect. He loves when we earnestly seek to do his will. He “delights” in our every step. He is well pleased.

There have been times where I have had to make a BIG decision. I prayed and got impatient, later realizing I had made a mistake. I still thought that it was God’s will. However, later I realized I had made a mistake that caused me to stumble. I did not wait long enough for him to bring clarity. Yet we see, that even when we stumble there is abundant grace and mercy. He is ready and willing to lift us up when we stumble.

Do you remember when you tried to ride a bike for the first time? Your parents let you try without training wheels? If you were like me, you ate the gravel. I mean, I stumbled hard. I was a bloody, bruised, beat up, wanted to give up kind of mess. Just as my earthly Father saw what had happened and helped me up, God will lift you up when you stumble. He is much better than your earthly father. He is your cheerleader. He was delighted you wanted to please him! He lifts you and says, here my child try this.

God sees the desire in your heart to do his will and live out his plan for your life and that pleases him. He is delighted you a pursuing to be obedient. Even if you stumble, he is there to lift you up. He is proud of you! So dust the gravel off and keep riding.
