Grace Is Greater-Kyle Idleman (Book Review)

Book Information:

If we miss the reality and the depth of our sin, we miss out on the grace of God. As long as we think I’m not that bad, grace will never seem that good.

Book Review:

Grace is Greater is another heart transforming book by Kyle Idleman. The best way to describe all the books I have read by him so far are convicting yet, comical and relatable. I was able to read Grace is Greater through Kindle Unlimited for free. As I read the book I was humbled to see areas that I needed to repent in but also encouraged through a deeper understanding of what Grace is. So often at church and even in Christian circles we throw around grace loosely. However, Grace is Greater is an excellent tool for all those in every walk of life. Kyle Idleman not only defines grace but talks about the need we all have for it and the way we must display it in every day life. I appreciate the continual vulnerability that Idleman has in all his books by sharing his life experiences. Because he shares the need he has for Grace, this invites you in to look at the times you have overlooked the need for grace in your own life.

One of my favorite quotes from the book gave me a real reality check and conviction from the Holy Spirit concerning me extending grace to to to others.

People need us to raise a hand, not point a finger.

Kyle Idleman (Grace Is Greater)

If you are looking to grow in the area of understanding what Grace is, the need for grace in your life, and how to extend grace to others…Grace is Greater is a wonderful book to digest. I could cruise through Kyle Idleman’s books because of the humor he uses with his footnotes will have you on the floor laughing. However, the meatiness of text is one that you will need to digest and take your time through.

Grace is Greater is a 5/5 stars. Through all the laughs and personal conviction I felt through ingesting this wonderful book, it deserves nothing less. I highly recommend Kyle Idleman’s other books if you have already read this book such as, Not A Fan and God’s At War.

For All Who Wander, Robin Dance (Book Review)

Book Information:

Title: For All Who Wander-Why Knowing God Is Better Than Knowing It All

Author: Robin Dance

Publisher: B&H Publishing

ISBN: 9781433643088

Price: $16.99 (B&H Publishing Website)

Study Guide Information:

  • ISBN: 9781535979849
  • Price: $9.99 (B&H Publishing Website)

For All Who Wander, written by Robin Dance an (in)courage author is targeted at specific audience and I believe that this is key to enjoying this book to its full capacity. The book is mainly about moving from a place of checking off the boxes of religion and growing into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I also had the study guide, that went along with each chapter of For All Who Wander. Both were generously provided by B&H Publishers for this review.

This book for me, was less about wandering and more about actually finding out who God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit actually are outside of religion and through a personal relationship. I believe Robin Dance’s words and the Word Of God have the capacity to challenge those who have grown up in church and think they know God to transitioning into really knowing him. As Robin Dance said throughout the book, she was one of those Christian’s that had to do this. She talks about a couple interesting subjects such as testimony envy and her college life friends that ultimately brought her to a relationship with Jesus. Topics that I believe are important and necessary but are targeted at a specific audience.

When I read the description of the book I was led to believe this was going to be a book that was going to be about unbelief in the sense of someone going through suffering and needing help to stand in faith. However, the unbelief Dance was talking about was no longer going through the Sunday school motions and into an intimate relationship with Jesus. She does touch on suffering but as I said, I do not feel that I was the targeted audience that this book is meant for.

Overall, I believe this book is very well written for what and who the book actually pertains to. It is not only through the blood of the lamb, but the power of our testimony. Robin Dance vulnerably shares with you how she went from a place of religion to a beautiful relationship with God. The only critiques I have are for the description of the book itself and in the study guide there should be more practical applications. There was one “resolve” that called me to plant an herb garden. The motive behind why she wanted you to plant the herb garden was beautiful. However, it just was not practical. For this I would give For All Who Wander, 3 starts out of 5. I would recommend this book to anyone who grew up in church or feels like they are just going through the motions of Christianity. Like Robin Dance displays throughout the pages, Jesus wants to take you deeper into a relationship with him! This book and of course the Word Of God is a great place to start!

Thank You:

A huge thank you for generously supplying both For All Who Wander and the Study guide straight to my mailbox. The quality of the books sent is always superb. Thank you for the opportunity to share many books with the audience here at Let Love Be My Motive. Also a huge congratulations to Robin Dance in her endevour of publishing this book. I know that you are going to be planting seeds to transform the hearts of many.

Book Information

Title: Not Forsaken, Finding Freedom as Sons & Daughters of a Perfect Father

Author: Louie Giglio

Publisher: B&H Publishing Group

Published: May 7th 2019

ISBN: 9781535956956

Book Review

In Not Forsaken, Louie Giglio’s latest novel, he addresses those who have had great earthly fathers, those who have non-existent fathers, and every type of father in-between. Therefore, making this book relatable to everyone who picks it up!

Louie uses many examples of his personal relationship with his earthly father, making Not Forsaken easily relatable. He gives the revelation that many times we compare our earthly father to our heavenly father, leaving us to believe a less than perfect image of who Abba is. Throughout Not Forsaken, Louie continually speaks into the depths of your heart and reminds you of your new identity found in Jesus Christ, equipping you to seek God to heal the wounds of the past and live out your life in true freedom only found in Jesus.

Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio is a book that I wish I had when I was just beginning to walk with the Lord due to knowing just how important it is to know God as Abba and your identity in him as his child. No matter where you are in your walk with God Not Forsaken will help you grow closer to the Father, release you from the lies of comparing your earthly father to your heavenly father, and assist you in walking as a Child of God!

Overall the review I give Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio is a solid 5/5. Everyone, no matter your background or current life stance, needs to read this book and remember who they are and who Abba truly is. There is great freedom found and voids that are able to be filled when you know your heavenly father on a personal basis. As Louie Giglio states, “through our faith in Christ, we can find the father we have been longing for all along”.

Thank You

A big thank you to Louie Giglio for reminding us yet again of how great our heavenly father is! You continue to remind me of how worthy he is of our praise. Another thank you to Net Galley and to the publishers at B & H Books for allowing me to have the opportunity to read and review this amazing book and also generously providing the audio-book to me as well!

Everybody, Always~Bob Goff (BOOK REVIEW)

Everybody Always (Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People)~Bob Goff

ISBN-10: 0718078136 Publisher: Thomas Nelson; 1 edition (April 17, 2018)

Wow! Where do I even start with this book review!?

Everybody, Always, is one of those reads that everyone can read and get a deeper revelation of love, how Jesus is the perfect representation of love, and how he has called us to love EVERYONE, ALWAYS. Bob Goff’s writing style of authenticity, humor, and vulnerability leaves you awe struck throughout this entire book. I leave this book changed by the power of his testimony of how “Love Does”. I had a hard time putting this book down. With every single page, Holy Spirit used Bob Goff as a vessel to transform my heart from someone who misinterpreted what the love of Jesus was into actively doing what love does.

How God has shown Bob through others what love is from the “croc drop” to the Witch Doctors in Uganda. This book along with the nudge of the Holy Spirit had me step back and really look at my heart. Am I truly loving and serving like Jesus? How can I do what love does starting now?

There were tears that were shed, conviction, and laughter with every chapter that I read. I am so thankful for the way God has used Bob to write this book. I give this book a 5/5, as in, stop what you are doing right now and read this book!! If you are looking to love like Jesus, which we all can learn to love more like him, this is a great read. Everybody Always taught me where I was wrong and where I need to do what love does. God used Bob’s life and voice to help me understand where I have went wrong and why I thought the things I did. I learned that I am not alone, and was gently reminded we are learning to love like Jesus together, so be abundant in grace because we all need it. Simply stated, we are to love Everybody, Always.
