Ooooo, this one kind of hurts!

I’ve been stuck in Philippians for some time now & let me tell you how this verse jumped off the page at me. Thank-you Holy Spirit, this one stung a little.

Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be innocent and pure as God’s perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky, as you offer them the message of life. If you do so, I shall have reason to be proud of you on the Day of Christ, because it will show that all my effort and work have not been wasted.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:14-16‬ ‭GNB‬‬

I am reflecting at how often I complain and oh man, this is definitely something I need to work on.

The first word that stands out to me is “everything”. So you mean I’m called to not complain about anything!?!? Even with dusting!?!?

Then it says that we are called to “shine like stars as we share the message of life”. I complain a lot at times and I am realizing that it doesn’t reflect the thankfulness I have for the life Our Creator has provided me with. Even if God didn’t do anything else in my life, I should be doing the things he has called me to do with an attitude of thanksgiving.

I’m not sure about you, but I definitely don’t want to “waste” anyone’s hard work.

How much am I complaining? Too much. Probably like a 12 on a 1-10 scale. Is this something you need to challenge yourself on too? Start today!

Dear Papa, I am truly sorry that my words don’t always reflect the daughter you have called me to be. I pray that when I feel the need to complain or argue that my mouth and mind would reflect the attitude of Christ and speak nothing but thanksgiving and praise. Thank-you for always pointing me in the direction I need to follow on my daily walk with you. In Jesus name, Amen.

God First Bro!

What is the first thing you do in the morning? Click on Facebook? Let the dog out? Wake up the kids? Grab a coffee? How busy is your schedule? Are you overloaded with work, school, family, and the 10 other commitments you made this week where you just say, “I don’t have time for church”. “I don’t have time to read the Bible”? On my walk so far, the most common thing I hear from people is how they don’t have time to be in his presence. I used to be one of these people. I admit it, I didn’t have time. Ever since I have chose to put The Lord FIRST in my life, everything has fell into place. I know now, when something gets out of order rather quickly. I tend to feel tired all the time, my thought pattern is different, I begin to feel stress and anxiety I haven’t felt in a long time. I was at the point where I deleted social media apps off my phone and took the things that were distracting me from spending time with him away. I choose to dive into scripture, prayer, and worship when I wake up in the morning. I am starting my day off right, if it is in his presence. Put God first over everything. I love Psalm 119. It expresses the importance of his word. His word is the ultimate weapon against satan((“Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, That I may not sin against You.”‭‭PSALM‬ ‭119:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬)) , his word helps you understand who he is, his word should guide your life and decisions((“I will meditate on Your precepts And [thoughtfully] regard Your ways [the path of life established by Your precepts]. I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”‭‭PSALM‬ ‭119:15-16‭AMP‬‬)) I look forward spending time with my Father everyday and he looks forward to spending time with me. Say Yes to his presence. Study his word. Defeat the enemy. Spread Christ’s love no matter where you go.

Put God first, before anything or anyone else.

What has been holding you back? Is God really your number one priority?

Below is some more of Psalm 119 that really stood out to me.

“Open my eyes [to spiritual truth] so that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.”‭‭-PSALM‬ ‭119:18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“My soul dissolves because of grief; Renew and strengthen me according to [the promises of] Your word.”-‭‭PSALM‬ ‭119:28‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“May Your lovingkindness also come to me, O LORD, Your salvation according to Your promise; So I will have an answer for the one who taunts me, For I trust [completely] in Your word [and its reliability].”-‭‭PSALM‬ ‭119:41-42‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“This is my comfort in my affliction, That Your word has revived me and given me life.”-‭‭PSALM‬ ‭119:50‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“According to Your steadfast love refresh me and give me life, So that I may keep and obey the testimony of Your mouth.”-‭‭PSALM‬ ‭119:88‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The Beauty of A Wildflower, And The Captivating Beauty of Your Relationship With Christ.

“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen—don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. (‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭30-33‬ MSG)

I LOVE when Holy Spirit points something out to me and I’m like, yeah…you’re completely right, I need to work on that. As weird as it sounds, I love conviction and correction. I love that I know that I am growing and have something to work on to be Christ-like and bring his kingdom here on earth. I really love when God is like “Oh Tanja, why are you worried, I am in control.” Don’t you know how much I love you? Diving into his presence really puts life into perspective. Prayer isn’t a before and after meal, when you wake up, when you go to bed deal. It should be a continual conversation. Celebrating what Our Lord has done for us, shouldn’t be confined to church on Sundays, and shouldn’t only be kept to those who believe. Where do you need to step up your faith game? Is it simply trusting that he is in charge and will make everything work out for the good? Is it trusting this week that tithing 10% even though you’re worried about paying the bills? Is it reaching out to a brother or sister of Christ to seek advice with something you’ve been struggling with?

Remember how much God loves YOU. He has a unique, individual relationship with you that he can’t share with anyone else because you’re the only one to be the match.

Thank you Lord for loving me enough to show me new ways to grow closer to you and to be more like Christ every day. Thank you for giving us an individualistic love that never fails or ceases to amaze me. May I open up my heart to what you have to say and practice what you have laid on my heart. In Jesus name, Amen.
