For All Who Wander, written by Robin Dance an (in)courage author is targeted at specific audience and I believe that this is key to enjoying this book to its full capacity. The book is mainly about moving from a place of checking off the boxes of religion and growing into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I also had the study guide, that went along with each chapter of For All Who Wander. Both were generously provided by B&H Publishers for this review.

This book for me, was less about wandering and more about actually finding out who God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit actually are outside of religion and through a personal relationship. I believe Robin Dance’s words and the Word Of God have the capacity to challenge those who have grown up in church and think they know God to transitioning into really knowing him. As Robin Dance said throughout the book, she was one of those Christian’s that had to do this. She talks about a couple interesting subjects such as testimony envy and her college life friends that ultimately brought her to a relationship with Jesus. Topics that I believe are important and necessary but are targeted at a specific audience.

When I read the description of the book I was led to believe this was going to be a book that was going to be about unbelief in the sense of someone going through suffering and needing help to stand in faith. However, the unbelief Dance was talking about was no longer going through the Sunday school motions and into an intimate relationship with Jesus. She does touch on suffering but as I said, I do not feel that I was the targeted audience that this book is meant for.

Overall, I believe this book is very well written for what and who the book actually pertains to. It is not only through the blood of the lamb, but the power of our testimony. Robin Dance vulnerably shares with you how she went from a place of religion to a beautiful relationship with God. The only critiques I have are for the description of the book itself and in the study guide there should be more practical applications. There was one “resolve” that called me to plant an herb garden. The motive behind why she wanted you to plant the herb garden was beautiful. However, it just was not practical. For this I would give For All Who Wander, 3 starts out of 5. I would recommend this book to anyone who grew up in church or feels like they are just going through the motions of Christianity. Like Robin Dance displays throughout the pages, Jesus wants to take you deeper into a relationship with him! This book and of course the Word Of God is a great place to start!

Thank You:

A huge thank you for generously supplying both For All Who Wander and the Study guide straight to my mailbox. The quality of the books sent is always superb. Thank you for the opportunity to share many books with the audience here at Let Love Be My Motive. Also a huge congratulations to Robin Dance in her endevour of publishing this book. I know that you are going to be planting seeds to transform the hearts of many.

Book Review

Catherine Park’s juvenile non-fiction novel, Empowered, How God Shaped 11 Women’s Lives (And Can Shape Yours Too), shares the testimonies of 11 women who bravely endured challenging circumstances through God’s strength and power. Each chapter introduces each one of these amazing women of faith by a quote and a hand-drawn picture. You will read through parts of their testimony and research provided. After their stories unfold, you are left with pages where you are able to reflect upon each woman’s traits. Some of these traits include gratitude, loving the unlovable, and fearing God not man. At the very end of each chapter Park’s provides questions to reflect upon.

When I was graciously provided this book by B&H Publishers, I had no idea that it was aimed at children and young tweens. The cover will grab your attention right away with all of the bright colors. The illustrations inside of Empowered are simply beautiful. The 11 women that Park’s chose to focus on with help do exactly what the title says, empower and shape the audience’s livelihood.

Overall I give this book a 3/5 and would recommend it to Mother’s who want their young girls to know about women of faith. We are told that it is not only by the blood of Jesus but the power of our testimony. I plan on passing this read onto someone else. This book is aimed more toward late elementary or young junior high girls. Empowered was an easy read and I loved hearing and learning more about women who have shaped our faith.

Thank you to B&H Publishers for graciously providing this novel for me to review.

Book Information

Title: Not Forsaken, Finding Freedom as Sons & Daughters of a Perfect Father

Author: Louie Giglio

Publisher: B&H Publishing Group

Published: May 7th 2019

ISBN: 9781535956956

Book Review

In Not Forsaken, Louie Giglio’s latest novel, he addresses those who have had great earthly fathers, those who have non-existent fathers, and every type of father in-between. Therefore, making this book relatable to everyone who picks it up!

Louie uses many examples of his personal relationship with his earthly father, making Not Forsaken easily relatable. He gives the revelation that many times we compare our earthly father to our heavenly father, leaving us to believe a less than perfect image of who Abba is. Throughout Not Forsaken, Louie continually speaks into the depths of your heart and reminds you of your new identity found in Jesus Christ, equipping you to seek God to heal the wounds of the past and live out your life in true freedom only found in Jesus.

Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio is a book that I wish I had when I was just beginning to walk with the Lord due to knowing just how important it is to know God as Abba and your identity in him as his child. No matter where you are in your walk with God Not Forsaken will help you grow closer to the Father, release you from the lies of comparing your earthly father to your heavenly father, and assist you in walking as a Child of God!

Overall the review I give Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio is a solid 5/5. Everyone, no matter your background or current life stance, needs to read this book and remember who they are and who Abba truly is. There is great freedom found and voids that are able to be filled when you know your heavenly father on a personal basis. As Louie Giglio states, “through our faith in Christ, we can find the father we have been longing for all along”.

Thank You

A big thank you to Louie Giglio for reminding us yet again of how great our heavenly father is! You continue to remind me of how worthy he is of our praise. Another thank you to Net Galley and to the publishers at B & H Books for allowing me to have the opportunity to read and review this amazing book and also generously providing the audio-book to me as well!
