Hey everyone! For those of you who missed my last post, I uploaded a printable prayer list to keep track of who and what you are praying for! It isn’t anything fancy. It is just a tool I use to see God’s faithfulness on paper, kind of like a keepsake and to be a little more organized. Feel free to check it out at:
It is so beautiful to see how God has used not only myself as a tool to bring people to know him but my husband and close friends. Over the course of January I have saw many people grow in their personal relationship with Abba. There is nothing more beautiful to me to see what they asked for in prayer to be answered and those seeds being cultivated as God keeps on pouring into them. January has been tough but God strength grows so much deeper than the trials I have faced this month.
With all that being said, I would absolutely L-O-V-E to pray for you or if you know of someone that needs someone praying, that is cool too!
I don’t know if you are like me, but I have loads and loads of people I love to pray for each month. Sometimes, there are so many, that I can’t remember them all! I started to write them down and then I decided to make a list. This list not only keeps me organized, but also helps me see all the prayers that have been answered. Even if what I was praying for didn’t specifically end up the way I would have hoped, this prayer list has shown me that God truly does work everything out for the good and his plan is perfect. Here is a simple prayer sheet for you to download and print off for you at home. I keep mine in my prayer room. But I have also kept it in other places where I know I would look everyday.
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” -Colossians 3:2 KJV
So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. -Colossians 3:2 MSG
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. -Colossians 3:2 CSB
The KJV uses the word affection set your “affections” on things above (heaven). Affections in Greek using the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance means: phroneó to exercise the mind.
As we continue to read in Colossians it comes to “Let the word of Christdwellin you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the LORD.”-Colossians 3:16
When we look up the word Dwell according to the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance it means to inhabit…so I took this a step further and looked up the word Inhabit in Greek, meaning, oikeo, which means to properly make a home living “at home” because it’s no ones residence.
Are you picking up what God is laying down?
We are called to exercise our mind on the word of God. What this means to meditate on it like it says in Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:2. In Psalm 1:2 it actually says that when we mediate on The Word of God that we will be like a tree planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit (love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control) in every season and being prosperous in all we do. We should be breaking the word down into the original language, comparing translations, and praying over it, asking Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and understanding of what he wants to reveal to us. Listen to what Holy Spirit wants to say to you. After your quiet time, continue to meditate on what you read. Ask Holy Spirit to show you where and when to implement what you read. We are called to be doers of the word (James 1:22). God tells us to let his word take home in us. That his word is supposed to take residency not only in our mind, but heart and soul.
If the word of God isn’t in you, then what is taking residency? I know personally I do not want anything other than God taking up my heart and mind. I know from the word of God: “Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.” -Matthew 12:30
When we are not dwelling on the Word of God, we are giving the enemy a foothold in our life and residency in our heart. NO THANK-YOU!! You’d be amazed how wonderful it is just to spend time with God. Rebuking the thoughts that aren’t his transforms your whole entire being. I understand life is busy. However, it will always be too busy if you don’t make the time. Have quiet time with God while your using the bathroom instead of scrolling social media or playing words with friends. Nothing is more important than having the Word of God implanted and taking residency in your heart and exercising your mind! It is apart of your armor to fight against the enemy!
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”-Ephesians 6:10-17
If you are struggling with getting in your word, ask Holy Spirit to help you. Take reading the word at his pace, not what you think you should be reading at. When you have Holy Spirit direct what you are reading and meditating on you know it will be perfect for you at this very moment! If you have any questions feel free to message me, comment, or email me! I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to be engaged in your word and to continually think upon heavenly things.
Prayer, is a conversation between you & God. We often do not have, because we do not ask! (James 4:3) We are called to intercess on behalf of one another. (Ephesians 6:18)
With that being said…
If anyone has any prayer requests, feel free to comment, or message me personally!
My prayer right now is that I habitually walk in the spirit, always living a life full of love following Christ’s example. I pray that God provided financially to go back to college to get my degree if this apart of his will. I pray I always come to God in prayer with an attitude of thanksgiving. Every good thing comes from above, and I’ve had a lot of wonderful things happen to me!
I feel the need to write about the power of prayer this morning. I often explain to people that prayer is your day to day conversations with God. It is some of the most intimate moments with Abba we will ever have! I have had many people say that it’s hard for them to pray and get in their word. At one point in my life, I was right there with them!
If you and your best friend were with one another 24/7 and you didn’t say anything to them, nor did you really listen when they were speaking, wouldn’t that be really weird? It would hard to build a relationship with someone who you never spoke to or listened to when they were speaking. It would be like, you’d be strangers in the same place. When we don’t pray, read our word, or engage in his presence, just like our best friend, it would be REALLY hard to get to know them!
Don’t worry though, even if you feel you have strayed away from his presence he knows you better than you know yourself. He created you! “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” -Job 33:4 (NASB)
One of the many things I love about God is, he meets you where you are at! You’re never to far away from him and his love! “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
For you who think prayer is hard, I was right there with you! It really isn’t difficult. It is simply a conversation, and we are blessed enough to have Holy Spirit to guide us even if we don’t know what to say!
Since I have been praying more often than I ever have, while using the word to form many of my prayers, my life has transformed! It is amazing what God can do just by praying! I never realized the power behind it!
I hope I have encouraged you not only to pray, but to truly build a relationship with God. It will be the best relationship you will ever have!
