Are You Sure God? (Devotional)

I replied, “But my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose. Yet I leave it all in the Lord ’s hand; I will trust God for my reward.”
Isaiah 49:4 NLT

I am in a season where I cannot understand any of the commandments God has given me. Not a single one. There seems to be no logical reason why he has me staying where I am. In this season I feel that what I’m doing has no purpose, the hard work and dedication I have is unnoticed, and I have become more weary as time goes on. “God are you sure you want me here?”

Everytime I have asked hebresponds with yes. The things God tells you to do are not going to be logical when he is supernatural. But, when you know that HE is good and is FOR you, you can trust in his commands even when they are uncomfortable, painful, and do not make any sense sense. While I feel that all the hard work I have put in has went unnoticed, God has simply reminded me that praise and reward come from him.

If you don’t understand what is going on or why God has you in this place, understand that his intentions are always good. Man may not see the tears you have cried, the hard work and dedication you have put in, or the prayers and praise you have spoken…but God has never taken his focus off of you.

It takes faith and endurance to stay where God has you in a season of trials. But, his promises remind us that the suffering now does not even compare to the glory that is coming!

Be encouraged that he hears your every prayer and is working on your behalf. God is for you and in his timing you will see his beautiful plan amongst the suffering you once endured. He is faithful to his word, without fail he will rescue you, his promises shall come to pass.

  1. I don’t know if this applies to you at all, but when I feel this way, it’s because I have spent too much time and energy on my “hard work” and not enough letting HIM do more through me. (I’m too often a Martha and not a Mary.)

  2. When things go differently than I expect I have to remember that everything God does is from love. Even the times where He puts us on pause to tease out our ‘self’ nature and allow what He has brought into our life to marinate.

It does take faith and patient endurance to stay in a season of trials. We can absolutely testify the truthfulness of this. And yes, the reward definitely outweighs our sacrifice, no matter how large that sacrifice is. Even losing our home, all of our belongings, friends and family and walking in homelessness was not greater than His reward.

Stay steadfast in the faith because yes, you WILL see His plan for you unfold in the land of the living! His promises WILL come to pass.
