Reflection Of Your Heart Part II

“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.”-Proverbs 18:21 NLT

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”-Proverbs 18:21 ESV

consequence:
noun
1. the effect, result, or outcome of something occurring earlier

When I hear the word consequence, my mind automatically goes to something negative. When in actuality, consequence’s can go either way.

When you are talking to people are you edifying them or are you tearing them down?

edify:
verb (used with object), edified, edifying.
1.
to instruct or benefit, especially morally or spiritually; uplift:

There are enough people in this world to tear us down, when really we should be loving on one another and building one another up. If someone is doing something wrong, unbiblical, by all means, hold your brother or sister accountable. However, convicting them of what they’re doing wrong, isn’t our job. Holy Spirit will take care of that.

You can tell someone something they are doing wrong till you’re blue in the face. But until something change in their heart, nothing will change.

Instead we should be loving one another through every circumstance.

I have done many things in my life that I am not proud of, however, I am thankful for Abba and his supernatural love.

God loves all of us the same.

Unconditionally. No matter what we may have done or may do in the future his love is steadfast.

I have really been challenging myself to watch my mouth. For those who knew me before, you will immediately notice the difference when you no longer hear a mouth of a sailor but of a Child of God. I still slip up from time to time, but I am thankful for God’s forgiveness. I am by no means perfect. “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful. so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”-Ephesians 4:29

Everything that flows through your mouth, comes from your heart. “But the words you speak come from the heart–that’s what defiles you.”-Matthew 15:18

I always told people, telling me to put down the snacks and hit the gym has never helped me actually get there. Hearing how “I’m going to get fat” (even while a size 0), never made me put down the oreo’s ya’l. Now, when I take the initiative to go for a run and I hear afterward how happy they’re that I feel better when I run. This has made me create a healthy habit for my life.

“Kind words are like honey-sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”-Proverbs 16:24

There is so much power in the tongue. When you speak, are you speaking life into situations? Are you using God’s word, his promises, as the weapon it is to defeat the enemy? (Ephesians 6:10-20)

I challenge not only you, but myself to watch our mouth. Remember, what flows out of your mouth is what is in your heart. Ask God to help you and give you strength to change how you speak and what you speak.

Let your words be kind and healing, encouraging everyone.
